BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia has left for the United Kingdom for better medical treatment.

On Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at 11:47 pm, the BNP Chairperson, along with her traveling companions, left for London, UK, in the Royal Qatar Amari ‘Air Ambulance’.

Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani is scheduled to meet Begum Khaleda Zia during a stopover in Doha.
Earlier, he left for Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport from his Gulshan residence at 8:15 pm and arrived at the airport a little before 11 am.

On January 8, Bangladesh time at 10 am, the air ambulance will land at Heathrow Airport in the UK.
After reaching the UK, the country’s government will provide VIP protocol to Begum Khaleda Zia.
After almost 8 years, Begum Khaleda Zia will meet her beloved son Tarique Rahman. Begum Khaleda Zia will be received at Heathrow Airport in London by BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, daughter-in-law Dr. Zubaida Rahman, granddaughter Barrister Zaima Rahman and family members living in London.
After that, Begum Khaleda Zia will be admitted to the specialized hospital ‘London Clinic’. The doctors there will take all the decisions regarding her treatment.

Senior party leaders including BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir bid farewell to Begum Khaleda Zia at her residence.


A crowd of people, including party leaders and activists, lined the Airport Road from Gulshan to bid farewell to the uncompromising leader.

Begum Khaleda Zia went to London on July 16, 2017, for her latest eye and foot follow-up treatment. After staying in London for three months, she returned home on October 18. She is going to London again after 7 years and 9 months.

It is worth noting that Begum Khaleda Zia has been suffering from various physical complications including liver cirrhosis, heart disease and kidney problems for a long time.
